The pillar of the family unfortunately suffered from colorectal cancer and, after surgery, had a stroke that left him unable to take care of himself. His wife and daughter resigned from their jobs to care for the elderly man, while their son, who works as a security guard, became the sole source of income for the family.

63-year-old Mahalingam A/L Govindasamy, from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, experienced bleeding during bowel movements and coughing in July. After an X-ray examination at the hospital, he was diagnosed with stage III colorectal cancer. He also suffered a stroke following surgery, leaving the left side of his body paralyzed. Currently, he is unable to care for himself and relies on his daughter and wife for assistance. He requires monthly physical therapy at the government hospital, relies on tube feeding for milk, uses diapers daily, and has a colostomy bag.

ITocare for the ailing elderly man, his wife and eldest daughter resigned from their previous jobs, and their younger son, who works as a security guard, took on the responsibility of supporting the family. The elderly man and his family of four live with his 87-year-old mother-in-law in their ancestral home. To alleviate the financial burden, the daughter applied for assistance from One Hope Charity.

Upon receiving the request for assistance, One Hope Charity conducted a home visit and decided during a board meeting to provide aid in the form of milk powder and diapers, thus relieving some of the burden on the son.
