An Indian couple in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, is facing health challenges with the husband suffering from asthma, and the wife diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. They both require treatment and recovery time. One Hope Charity is providing food assistance to help them through this difficult period.

Mary Teresa A/P Anthony Samy (44 years old) from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, became the sole breadwinner of her family at the end of last year. However, she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer at the beginning of this year. She has undergone surgery in a government hospital and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. She had been working as an operator in an electronics manufacturing company but had to take unpaid leave due to her illness. She plans to return to work after completing her chemotherapy.

Her 52-year-old husband had been suffering from asthma for the past three years. He was hospitalized for a week at the end of last year due to breathing difficulties and was subsequently laid off from his job due to frequent sick leave. The couple has a 15-year-old son who cycles to a school located 2.9 kilometers away from their home.

ONE HOPE CHARITY responded to their request for assistance by conducting a home visit and approved food aid for the family.
