A 62-year-old woman from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Norsiah binti Hashim, has been suffering from diabetes for over a decade. Her 66-year-old husband has asthma and stopped working six years ago to take care of her when she became bedridden. He mentioned that her condition is deteriorating, and she is currently managing her condition with medication.

The couple has four sons. Their second son, who resides with them, had a car accident two years ago, resulting in disability in both legs, and he has been unable to work for over a year.
