The head of the family, Shankar A/L Tan Kiang Hoo, 45 years old and from Simpang Ampat, Penang, had a heart condition that required surgery. After the operation, he needed time to recover before returning to work, relying on his savings during this period. There are three children in the family who are still studying. After receiving their application, One Hope Charity provided aid in the form of milk powder, diapers, and food supplies to help the family temporarily overcome their difficulties.

Shankar, who previously worked in a factory in Singapore, experienced chest pain one day and went to the government hospital in Johor Bahru for examination. The doctors confirmed that he had blockages in four heart vessels. The doctors initially intended to refer him for surgery at a hospital in Penang. However, due to his sudden deterioration, he underwent heart surgery directly at the hospital in Johor Bahru. After the surgery, he returned to his hometown in Simpang Ampat, Penang, for recuperation.

His wife is a house wife, and they have four children, with the eldest working in a factory and the other three still attending school. Since Shankar needs to rest and cannot generate income following his heart surgery, the family sought assistance from One Hope Charity.

Upon receiving their request, the One Hope Charity conducted a home visit, and approved monthly assistance consisting of two cans of milk powder, diapers, and dry foods.
