43-year-old Sudenthiran A/L Nagalingam from Jawi, Penang, suffered a right foot fracture in a car accident on his way home from work 4 years ago. Subsequently, he underwent five surgeries in the hospital due to wound bacterial infection. Unfortunately, his right leg could not be saved, and he had it amputated in March of last year.

He worked as an operator in a factory, earning a monthly salary of RM1,500. However, he lost his ability to work after the car accident. Currently, he relies on his 30-year-old wife, who works as a contract employee in a supermarket, earning a monthly salary of RM1,500 to support the family. As they don’t have their own transportation, she occasionally gets rides from friends. Otherwise, she needs to use e-hailing or walk approximately 20 minutes to work.

They have two children, aged 3 and 4. Currently, the family of four lives together with their 62-year-old mother in a flat unit. Due to the wife’s income being barely enough after deducting rent and other expenses, they are seeking assistance from One Hope Charity.

Upon receiving the request for assistance, One Hope Charity sent representatives to conduct a home visit. The board of directors decided to provide assistance in the form of food supplies; diapers and milk powder for the children, to alleviate the burden on the wife.
