A 71-year-old mute and deaf bachelor suffered a stroke, unable to take care of himself. His 70-year-old sister, who also lives with him, has been retired for many years. The family is facing financial difficulties, receives assistance from One Hope Charity in the form of food supplies and diapers.

Tang Choon Sarn, a deaf-mute man from Ayer Itam, Pulau Pinang, suffered a stroke three years ago due to high blood pressure, leaving his right side paralyzed. Despite a cataract surgery on his left four years ago, his vision remains blurry, and he also struggles with glaucoma in the left eye and has been blind in the right eye for quite some time.

Currently, his daily life is taken care of by his 70-year-old unmarried sister. The siblings rely on a monthly financial assistance of RM500 from the Social Welfare Department and savings from their Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) to sustain their livelihood. As they have been retired for several years, their EPF savings are depleting, adding to their financial burden.

Upon receiving the request for assistance, One Hope Charity sent representatives to conduct a home visit. The board of directors decided to provide assistance in the form of food supplies and diapers to alleviate their economic burden.
