An old man who has been missing his wife and son have passed away. One Hope Charity hoped to help him realise his dream by moving his ashes and reunite with his wife and son.
Lee Keng Hoe @ Lee Seng Chye, the 80-year-old man from Chai Leng Park, Seberang Jaya used to run a coffee shop together with his son. They do not live in a luxurious life, but they made enough for a proper living.
However, Lee’s son suddenly died when he went to the market to buy materials in June 2000, leaving Lee and his wife behind. Lee was all alone after his wife passed away in 2011.
In 2019, Lee began to suffer from dementia and his friend arranged him to stay in a nursing home.
During last year's Qingming festival, the nursing home did not allow him to leave the premises due to the Movement Control Order. However, Lee secretly fled the nursing home to visit a Thai temple at Seberang Perai to pray for his wife and son.
After escaping the nursing home, he rented a room with the help of his friend, but later he was admitted to the hospital for four months due to his health condition. The hospital transferred him to another nursing home and lived on his final days.
The old man passed away last month due to old age. At the request of the nursing home, One Hope Charity has decided to handle his funeral. It is learnt from his friends that Lee’s biggest wish was to reunite with his family, hence One Hope Charity have specially requested to relocate the remains of the wife and son to be placed alongside with Lee’s ashes and to have his biggest wish fulfilled.
