After retiring, 72-year-old lonely elderly Yip Wai Chor from Bukit Mertajam had no fixed income and could only make a living by selling newspapers at the market. Due to low income, he couldn't afford accommodation and had been sleeping at the market.

In early last year, due to his old age and frailty, he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road. With high blood pressure and diabetes on top of that, One Hope Charity had no choice but to arrange for him to spend his remaining years in a nursing home. A few days before his passing, he suddenly developed a high fever and, despite being hospitalized for several days, succumbed to the illness.

After divorcing his wife in his early years, he lost contact with her. He still had a brother. With the consent of his brother, One Hope Charity gathered donations from the public to provide him with a coffin, handle posthumous matters, and purchase a niche for his ashes.

One Hope Charity promotes the "Promise of the last journey" care plan, allowing elderly individuals without family support to register in advance. This way, One Hope Charity can fulfill their funeral wishes after their passing.

Thanks to the regular donations from the public, the foundation can promptly assist more needy families and elderly individuals in handling their affairs after their passing. Those interested in contributing can donate at any time, as this support is ongoing to meet unforeseen needs.

Additionally, if there are impoverished families who cannot manage post-mortem arrangements for their deceased relatives or single elderly individuals who need pre-registration assistance, they can contact ONE HOPE CHARITY's hotline for help at 016-920 2920, 016-419 2192, or 04-539 9212.
