New school year, new beginnings. A 9-year-old boy from Ipoh, Perak, Lau Meng Hin received "new ears" as well. He can now hear sounds after successfully receiving a cochlear implant, which motivates him to study even more.

Lau Meng Hin, who grew up in a single-parent household, has always excelled academically. He has no communication barriers and speaks clearly. He has no idea that he is a deaf child who can only hear in one ear. To reduce the child's defects, his mother uses one-on-one teaching so that children can speak and learn like normal people.

The mother worked hard to save money in the hopes of purchasing better hearing aids for her child, but she was told that the child needed cochlear implants and needed to have surgery as soon as possible to avoid auditory nerve atrophy. The single mother felt helpless due to the high cochlear implant cost.

Because the child has had cochlear implant surgery, the child is currently adjusting to the frequency of the sound and needs to go to the hospital to adjust the moderate volume, with the hope that the child will improve over time.
