Chinese boy, Alan Lim Bo Yang, who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, requires long-term care. His father has found a job with flexible hours to balance work and caring for his child. ONE HOPE CHARITY has approved assistance in the form of a custom wheelchair for Alan, making it easier for his father to take him out.

Alan Lim Bo Yang, aged 13, was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy five years ago. This condition has caused brain defects and weakness in his limbs, which can only be controlled with medication. Coupled with his spinal curvature, Alan can only lie in bed supported by pillows for extended periods. He is unable to stand or walk normally, necessitating a custom wheelchair for mobility.

His parents are divorced, and due to the father's need to care for Alan full-time, he was forced to quit his previous job. Only recently did he secure a job as a driver with flexible hours, and his employer allows him to bring Alan along to work. This arrangement enables the father to support the household expenses. They reside in a housing unit in Penang, with Alan having a 16-year-old brother who is still attending school.

As Alan requires a custom wheelchair for easier mobility outside the home, his father applied for assistance from ONE HOPE CHARITY. Following a home visit by representatives from the charity, the board approved the provision of a custom wheelchair for Alan.
