"Thank you for helping and sponsoring my prosthetic ankle, which has allowed me to stand up and walk again, and become self-reliant in supporting myself and my family."

Basirah Binti Abu Bakar (45 years old), who lives in Butterworth, was born with a congenital defect in her left foot, lacking a left ankle. Since childhood, she has been using a prosthetic leg to walk. In 2019, ONE HOPE CHARITY provided her with a prosthetic ankle. However, after four years, the prosthetic ankle has been damaged, with multiple parts "injured" and patched with tape. Prolonged standing causes foot pain, leading Basirah to quit her job at the factory.

As a single mother raising her 11-year-old daughter after a divorce, she needed to earn a living to support her family. Therefore, she sought ONE HOPE CHARITY's help again to obtain a prosthetic ankle with motion control functionality.

Currently, she and her daughter live together in a low-cost housing unit, relying on each other. Basirah prepares noodles at home and then sells them at a coffee shop through a friend, earning a meager income. Additionally, she relies on assistance from Social Welfare to support her household expenses.

Upon receiving her request for assistance, ONE HOPE CHARITY conducted a home visit for verification and subsequently approved the provision of a prosthetic ankle to enable her to continue working and supporting her family.
