"I'm very happy! Finally got my prosthetic limb installed! Life in the rehabilitation center was really boring. Once I get used to this prosthetic limb, I can go out and find a job, become self-reliant!"

52-year-old man, Ho Chee Sieong, had his right foot amputated six months ago due to a bacterial infection in a wound on his ankle. Recently, with the wound healed, he successfully received a prosthetic limb.

After the amputation, he couldn't take care of himself, and his older sister couldn't care for him either. For the past six months, he has been living in a rehabilitation center. During this time, he couldn't go outside, spending his days only on his phone and chatting with people in the center. Accustomed to a more active lifestyle, he found this kind of life quite boring. When staffs from One Hope Charity delivered the prosthetic limb to him at the rehabilitation center, they saw him smiling. After fitting the prosthetic limb, he immediately stood up with the help of a walker and tried walking a short distance.

The prosthetist mentioned that he would need about a month to adapt to the prosthetic limb, after which he could discard the walker and walk using his left leg and the prosthetic limb. Chee Sieong understands that, although he can walk on his own with the prosthetic limb, he can't return to his old profession. Therefore, he plans to look for a job that suits him, living independently.

Ho Chee Sieong is very grateful for the assistance from the organization and also appreciates the kindness of the general public, giving him the opportunity to "stand up again." He hopes that in the future, he can become self-reliant.
