Wong Guat Moy, a 70-year-old woman from Bayan Lepas began to experience progressive hearing loss in her both ears about 4 to 5 years ago. She knows that getting hearing aids would require a large amount of money, so she has never been to a hospital or clinic for check-up.

Till early of May this year, Guat Moy went to the Health Carnival organized by ONE HOPE CHARITY on 7 May to have hearing test and she failed her hearing screening. Then, she was referred to Specialists for further diagnostic tests. It was diagnosed that she had a progressive hearing loss and need to be fitted with hearing aids on both ears.

Guat Moy is unable to work for more than 10 years, due to her age and she also suffer from thalassemia for about 20 years. Currently, she relies only on the assistance fund from the JKM every month for living expenses. ONE HOPE CHARITY helped her with a pair of hearing aids to regain hearing.
