A baby boy was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease after he was born, which caused tachypnea and hypoxia. After receiving treatment and observation in the intensive care unit for nearly five months, his condition has been stabilised and was allowed to be discharged. However, he needs a unit of oxygen concentrator at home to assist him in breathing.

Baby boy Chong Wern Khong was born on 23 August 2021. He is the firstborn of his parents after many years of marriage. His father Chong Hong Soon is a wireman, and his mother is a Chinese nationality. Two years of Covid-19 pandemic and movement control order had greatly affected the income of his parent, and they exhausted all their savings on the baby boy’s treatment. Moreover, the baby boy needs to undergo long-term regular follow-ups, which will involve an inestimable cost.

When the doctor allowed the baby to return home from the hospital, the parents were very happy because their son’s condition has been stabilised, and they could finally reunite with their son. However, the parents did not have extra money to purchase an oxygen concentrator that their son needs.

Under the recommendation by the hospital social worker, One Hope Charity reviewed the case and immediately ordered a brand new oxygen concentrator and oxygen cylinder, so that baby Wern Khong can use it as the treatment aid after he discharged from the hospital.

Baby Wern Khong has been discharged on 26 December 2021, but he still needs the assistance of an oxygen concentrator until his lungs are fully recovered.

One Hope Charity makes good use of the general donations from the public to quickly ordered an oxygen concentrator for the baby boy. His parents are very grateful to the public for their donations, so that their son can receive the medical assistance and recover as soon as possible.
