Regarding Baby Reese’s post that was widely shared and we also received enquiries regarding the same, One Hope Charity would like to provide an official response.

Before One Hope Charity was engaged for Baby Reese’s fundraising campaign, GIVE.asia was appointed by the parents to run a fundraising campaign and had successfully raised a total of RM670,229.68. After One Hope Charity took over the campaign, the parents informed us that GIVE.asia had promised to remit the money to One Hope Charity. However, when it was time to pay for the medication, One Hope Charity still had not received the payment from GIVE.asia. As we do not want to delay the treatment for Baby Reese, we had paid in advance by using our Reserve Fund to purchase Zolgensma medicine.

As to date, One Hope Charity had yet to receive the fund of RM670,229.68 from GIVE.asia

In fact, the Reserve Fund consists of the donation received from the generous public over the years. Our aim is to assist poor and vulnerable families. Therefore, we hope that GIVE.asia will transfer the amount of RM670,229.68 to us at their soonest possible.

As a result, One Hope Charity appointed a lawyer to issue a letter of demand to GIVE.asia on 11 April 2023. The aim is to request the balance fund to be transferred to us within 7 days. One Hope Charity will share the updates accordingly to the public.

On another hand, a Good News! Baby Reese’s feet can now step on the ground and can slowly move. We believe that this is a long-awaited news for everyone.

One Hope Charity had initiated a fundraising of RM9 million for the treatment of rare genetic disease (SMA) for Baby Reese on 13 December 2022. This case created sensation all over the country and even abroad. The hot topics like rare genetic disease SMA, the most expensive medicine, the progress of fundraising, the progress of Baby Reese, have attracted the attention from the local and international donors.

Today we are more focused on the latest update, which is the progress of Baby Reese after medication treatment. Baby Reese was admitted to the hospital on 7 February 2023 for Zolgensma gene therapy. The after-treatment examination report also showed good result, then Baby Reese was discharge at the next day.

It is now two months after the treatment, and Baby Reese is progressing very well. Before that, her feet were weak, and she could not even turn over. Now she regained the strength on her legs, and she can sit on a children's scooter and use her feet to move and show us a happy smile.

We hope everyone can continue to pay attention to this case and share around. In fact, we only hope that this matter can be resolved as soon as possible. At the same time, we also look forward to and witness Baby Reese stand up and take the first step in her life!
