"I appreciate everyone's help in helping me get through this difficult time. I hope that after recovery, I can help others and contribute to society. Thank you!"

Sin Boay Hock from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, faced difficulties in bowel movements and fatigue. After seeking medical attention in 2020, he was diagnosed with a rare Neuroendocrine Rectal Tumor (NET), or carcinoid tumor, in the rectum. The doctors have successfully removed a tumor of about 5 centimeters, confirming it to be a malignant tumor.

Neuroendocrine rectal tumors are rare carcinoid tumors that occur in the rectum and are formed by neuroendocrine cells, which typically produce and release hormones. Sin Boay Hock received the first dose of a new treatment on January 30th as part of his ongoing therapy.

This targeted therapy involves the administration of a radioactive drug that releases radioactive particles to destroy the DNA structure of tumor cells, leading to their death. Due to its specific targeting of tumor cells, the damage to surrounding normal tissues is relatively minimal, resulting in fewer side effects for the patient.

Despite the challenges, 69-year-old Sin Boay Hock faced the cancer diagnosis with acceptance and actively sought medical treatment. He traveled alone to Kuala Lumpur for various treatments, depleting his savings and insurance. He expresses deep gratitude for the assistance from compassionate individuals, enabling him to continue his medical treatment.
