Khor Joo Pei (24) whose hometown in Butterworth, Penang suffered from Hodgkin Lymphoma since 3 years ago. After a series of treatment and chemotherapy, he manage to undergo bone marrow transplant in May last year. He was able to continue his studies in university, unfortunately in December last year, his cancer relapsed and urgently need RM300,000 for his chemotherapy.
3 years ago, when he was 21, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, since then he suffered a lot due to the illness.
His strong will to live helped him went through 2 courses of treatment. On 4th of May 2018, he underwent bone marrow transplant, which donated by his sister. After the transplant, he continues his study in the university.
In the hope of full recovery, the cancer relapsed and affected his health condition.
During follow up in August last year, doctor found out that there is a tumour in his lung. After 15 courses of radiotherapy, noted the tumour has spread to his right neck. On 13th of November last year, after 20 courses of radiotherapy, the doctor found out the tumour had spread to his right axillary and causing swelling of his right arm.
On 2nd January this year, he had high fever. Thus his family sent him to Penang General Hospital for further checkup and in view of his ill condition, doctor recommended him to Penang Gleneagles for further treatment. After a series of investigation, doctor has confirmed that the cancer has metastases to his lung.
Overall, Joo Pei’s health condition is deteriorating. He has to take 2 types of medication for the treatment, but the medical cost is very expensive. It costs about RM300,000. Total course of the treatment takes about half a year.
His father, Khor Hock Leong (55) is a chef working in a restaurant at Cameron Highland and his mother Ong Lian Chuen (52) is a housewife.
The relapse of cancer hasn’t turn him down and he still continues to fight with cancer.
His parents agree to allow One Hope Charity & Welfare Berhad to incharge of the fundraising and public donations.
