Shiau Rou?s mother was having contractions and sudden bleeding while she was on 24weeks? pregnancy and delivered a 655 grams premature baby girl Shiau Rou. Shiau Rou is placed inside an incubator till she can live by her own. However the 28days hospital fees had reached up to SGD 74,064. Thus, the parent would like to seek help and raise public medical fund for RM 400,000 to save their premature baby girl.
Baby Shiau Rou is the 1st child of Gooi Jian Kai (23yrs old) and Ong Pei Chee (23yrs old) who was originally from Bukit Mertajam and was working in S?pore. While the family was happily waiting for the new life to born on 20th November as expected, the baby was delivered earlier at only 24weeks pregnancy.
While the mother Mrs Gooi got to know she is pregnant in Feb, she had quit the job and went back to Malaysia for checking and planned to deliver the baby in General Hospital. Although she having tummy pain often during early pregnancy, she was advised by the doctor that it was not a big concern.
On 4th Aug, Mrs Gooi was urgently sent to the hospital while having strong contraction and bleeding when visiting her husband in Singapore with her mother. She was immediately sent for laboring due to placental abruption and also the heart of the baby is getting weaker. Shia Rou is only 655 grams while being delivered.
Shia Rou has immature lungs and for her own protection, she is placed inside the incubator at neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). She was having shortness of breathe while moving out from NICU for checking thus is not encouraged to discharge or transfer back to the hospital in Malaysia.
The family has settled the outstanding hospital fees with the help of the relatives, friends and colleagues. However, they are worried on the increasing fees as they had been charged for SGD 74,064.40 for the past 28days. The couple is working in one of the manufacturing company in S?pore. The husband is a Technician and the wife works as a QC operator. The total of their salary is SGD 2000 / month.
As the baby girl requires another 3months of monitoring, the family is not able to afford the huge medical fees. Thus, they have get help from One Hope Charity to raise the medical fund from public for amount of RM 400,000.
