“He could still talk in the past second but suddenly became weak, with slurred speech and a crooked mouth in the next second. The situation happened too suddenly. We could only afford part of his surgery expenses. I beg the public to save him.”

57-year-old teacher Bahruddin Bin Ahmad, who teaches at a primary school in Nibong Tebal, South Seberang Prai, suffered a stroke. He needed to undergo mechanical thrombectomy within the golden window to prevent damage to his brain cells, which would affect his physiology functions or could cause total paralysis.

His 49-year-old wife, Suraiya Binti Haron, said her husband attended a school event on the morning of 25 November. He later went to a wedding banquet with his friends at noon. When he returned home, he could still talk to her about what happened at the wedding banquet. Unexpectedly, Bahruddin suddenly had slurred speech, a weak body, a crooked mouth, and started drooling.

His wife quickly called their relatives living next door to take Bahruddin to the hospital. The doctor diagnosed him with a stroke. He needed to be transferred to a specialist hospital for mechanical thrombectomy within the golden period. The family could only afford RM10,000. Hence, the family pleaded for help for the shortfall of surgical expenses.

Bahruddin’s case is an emergency case. Therefore, One Hope Charity provided immediate approval that he could undergo surgery within four hours after the stroke to remove the blood clot in his brain. The surgery went smoothly, and he is still under observation in the intensive care unit. He is temporarily out of danger.

【Bahruddin contributes to education. He treats his students like his children and is deeply loved and respected by his students】

Bahruddin is a primary school teacher serving in the education sector for 29 years. He was healthy. In addition to teaching, he enjoys gardening. He transferred from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, back to his hometown in South Seberang Perai in Penang 10 years ago to teach. His family was shocked by the sudden stroke.

Bahruddin’s wife is a housewife. They have six children. Their 27-year-old eldest daughter has just worked as an engineer in a factory in Perai for one year, earning RM3,000 monthly. Their 25-year-old son has worked as a car technician for less than a year, with a monthly salary of RM2,000, while their 23-year-old son just started serving in the Air Force in Subang in November. Their 20-year-old son, 17-year-old daughter and nine-year-old daughter are still schooling.

Bahruddin is a family-oriented man and a good teacher in the eyes of his wife and children. He is always the role model of his family. He spends time with his children in his free time.

Although Bahruddin has insurance, his wife contacted the insurance company after he fell ill. After verification, they told her that Bahruddin’s condition was not covered by insurance. His family was helpless, so they went to One Hope Charity to seek assistance.

After reviewing the case, One Hope Charity agreed to assist in raising the surgical expenses he needed. His family also agreed to fully authorise One Hope Charity to take charge of the fundraising and collect donations from the well-wishers on their behalf.
