Urgent Fundraising – Kaarthikesan (Crohn’s Disease)

URGENT

100%

This family has endured much hardship; the father lost his job due to a brain tumor, and their 12-year-old son is suffering from Crohn's disease, urgently needing medication. The mother, while taking care of her husband and child, also needs to work to make ends meet. They urgently require RM25,000 for the child's medical and living expenses.

Initially, they thought Kaarthikesan A/L Murugan's condition was only due to diarrhea and stomach pain. However, after diagnosis and medication, the situation worsened, with a weight loss of 12kg in just one month, leading to suspicions of cancer. Unable to engage in activities like running, squatting, or sitting, he has to spend extended periods lying down, even temporarily leaving school and sports until the doctors found a suitable treatment plan.

Kaarthikesan, from Selangor's Sri Kembangan, attends a Chinese primary school and is passionate about sports, especially running and playing football. Since April last year, he has been frequently using the toilet, and even after medication, abdominal pain and diarrhea problems persist.

After an endoscopy in the hospital, doctors confirmed that Kaarthikesan has Crohn's disease and started steroid treatment, requiring a month-long hospital stay. During the two months of medication, his appetite increased significantly, and his weight gradually recovered. However, in October of last year, further testing revealed 40% inflammation in his intestines, necessitating treatment with antibody drugs.

Despite seeing gradual improvements with the medication, the family received another piece of bad news. Kaarthikesan's father, Murugan A/L Nallathamby (42 years old), collapsed at the end of last year and, upon detailed examination, was diagnosed with a benign tumor in the pituitary gland, requiring surgical removal, followed by physical and rehabilitation therapy.

【The son and husband falling ill consecutively, with no income at home and unable to repay the mortgage】

Mother Thiruniraiselvi A/P Malayandi (39 years old) explained that due to the advanced stage of the brain tumor, doctors couldn't completely remove it, leaving a portion of the tumor. She was also informed that her husband would need two years to recover, but it's uncertain if he can resume work in the future. Murugan was originally working as a foreman in a factory, and in the latter half of last year, he frequently experienced dizziness and headaches, initially attributing it to work stress, only to find out it was due to the tumor.

With her husband and son falling ill consecutively, Thiruniraiselvi has been busy shuttling between hospitals to take care of both of them, making it difficult for her to find a stable job. The apartment they reside in faced the risk of auctioning as they had no income to pay the mortgage. Fortunately, they obtained a temporary reprieve and applied for housing insurance, averting the risk of losing their home.

Moreover, lacking a means of transportation, the family relies on friends and relatives for rides to the hospital or resorts to calling a taxi. Alongside various miscellaneous expenses and the cost of living, the family of three needs nearly RM 1,000 per month to sustain their daily lives. They have submitted an application to the social insurance regarding the father's condition and are currently awaiting a response.

Upon receiving their application, ONE HOPE CHARITY has completed the home visit and verification procedures. ONE HOPE CHARITY has decided to assist in raising the necessary funds for Kaarthikesan and his family, totaling RM 25,000.

The family has agreed to entrust the fundraising campaign entirely to ONE HOPE CHARITY, which will also collect the donations. For any inquiries, you can contact ONE HOPE CHARITY's hotline at 04-539 9212, 016-4192 192, 019-2322 192, 018-911 4192.
