Urgent Fundraising – Lim Cheng Hoong (Heart Disease)

URGENT

100%

The 29-year-old only son, working in Singapore to support his family, suddenly collapsed despite never having any previous illnesses. Medical tests revealed a hole and swelling in his heart, with doctors warning that urgent surgery is needed to prevent sudden death. The patient and his parents, unable to afford the 65,000 ringgit surgery fee, are desperate for help.

"I used to experience shortness of breath when lifting heavy objects or climbing stairs, but I thought it was normal for everyone. Now I've been told it's a symptom of a heart defect, and the doctors say I need surgery urgently. Insurance doesn't cover congenital heart defects, so I hope everyone can help me."

Lim Cheng Hoong from Penang has never had any symptoms until recently when he collapsed and hit his head. Doctors discovered a hole in his heart measuring approximately 3.4cm to 4cm, along with swelling, requiring immediate surgery to prevent sudden death.

【Due to frequent fainting spells, Lim Cheng Hoong, who had been working in Singapore with his girlfriend, was forced to resign from his job. Additionally, he will require two months of rest and recovery post-surgery before he can return to the workforce】

Lim Cheng Hoong had no symptoms prior to falling unconscious suddenly on the 10th day of the Chinese New Year, February 19th, in Johor. He was rushed to the hospital by his girlfriend for medical attention. However, tests revealed a hole in his heart ranging from 3.4cm to 4cm in size, along with swelling. Doctors emphasized the need for urgent surgery, which comes with a hefty price tag, causing the young man to despair.

Due to financial constraints, he returned to the general hospital for consultation, only to be informed that he could only see a doctor at the end of July, let alone schedule tests and subsequent treatment. Concerned about his deteriorating condition, he sought advice from a specialized hospital, where doctors informed him that the hole in his heart had exceeded 50 cents in size, necessitating immediate closure surgery costing RM65,000, or else he could face sudden heart failure.

Living in Johor and commuting daily to work in Singapore, Lim Cheng Hoong worked as a warehouse clerk in a logistics company, earning SGD 1800. However, with responsibilities like car loans, mortgages, and other expenses to cover, his recent illness forced him to quit his job, plunging him into financial distress. He has no means to afford the substantial surgery fees.

His father, Lim Ming Lai (65 years old), works as a lorry driver earning RM1766, while his mother, Wong Ngan Mei (61 years old), is a housewife. He also has a 26-year-old sister working in a bank to support the family.

After conducting a home visit and assessment, One Hope Charity has decided to assist in raising the required RM 65,000 for medical expenses. Lim Cheng Hoong has agreed to entrust the fundraising activities to the One Hope Charity & Welfare, who will also handle the collection of donations. In this case, One Hope Charity will allocate RM5000 from the "Emergency Medical Reserve Fund".
