“As a mother, I am helpless seeing my son suffers. I thought he might die, but when the doctor told me there was a chance of survival for my son after surgery, it rekindled our hope. Please help us to save our son.”

Two-month-old boy, Mohammad Rizqi Ramadhan Bin Mohammad Hafiz, is the first child of a newlywed couple. The joyous moment of welcoming their newborn turned into a painful experience as their child was born prematurely and had congenital heart defects. The novice parents have never carried, hugged, or kissed him. The baby boy still suffers in the hospital and needs RM80,000 for life-saving surgery.

【The baby boy was born prematurely in the 33rd week. After staying in the hospital for a month, his blood oxygen dropped sharply, and his body suddenly turned cyanotic. An examination showed that he had heart defects. He is now intubated and fed through a feeding tube】

A newlywed couple from Kubang Semang, Bukit Mertajam, was excited when the wife got pregnant. The fetus did not show any abnormalities during the prenatal check-ups, so the mother returned to her hometown in Baling, Kedah, to prepare for her delivery. Unexpectedly, in the 33rd week of pregnancy, the mother’s amniotic fluid broke, and she was rushed to the hospital. The baby weighed 1.88kg at birth and needed to stay in an incubator until full term.

A month after being hospitalised, the doctor discovered that baby Mohammad Rizqi Ramadhan’s blood oxygen dropped suddenly, and his body turned cyanosis. The doctor referred him to a general hospital, and a thorough examination revealed that the baby had an atrial septal defect (ASD) and Aortopulmonary Window (APW). If he does not undergo surgery in time, the baby will not survive.

Seeing all the tubes inserted into their son’s body, the novice parents are helpless. They feel sad watching their son suffer and hope they can take away their son’s pain. The doctor informed the parents that the child would have a chance to survive if he underwent surgery, but the parents could not afford the substantial surgical expenses. Hence, they approached One Hope Charity for help.

The mother said her baby boy is now 2.32kg, and even with the breathing aids, the baby is still short of breath. She feels sad because she cannot hug and carry her baby. The parents are exhausted and hope that their baby can survive.

The baby boy’s 40-year-old father, Mohammad Hafiz Bin Mohammad Abdul Ghani, is a factory operator with a monthly salary of RM1,500. His mother, Nurul  Hayati Binti Hasan Azhari, is a housewife. The couple got married late, and the baby is their first child.

After reviewing the case following a home visit, One Hope Charity decided to assist in raising the medical expenses he needed. The parents agreed to fully authorise One Hope Charity to take charge of the fundraising and collect donations from the well-wishers on their behalf.
