A husband was amputated due to diabetes and no longer be able to work. The wife has been working hard to support the family without a word of complaint. However, the husband was admitted a few days ago due to infection and needed an emergency surgery to save his life. The wife is unable to afford the RM40,000 surgical fee. She pleads the public to help them to get through this difficult time.

43-year-old man Mohammad Taufek Bin Mohamed @ Hussien from Penang Island collapsed at his workplace in 2018 and was sent to a private hospital as his wife was working there. The doctor then diagnosed him with high-risk diabetes and his left foot was severely damaged, and it had to be amputated to save his life. His medical expenses were paid through his Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF).

The patient, Mohammad Taufek, was unable to work after having his foot amputated. The financial burden of his family immediately fell on his wife, Amira Ziana Binti Chek Ali.

In early February, Mohammad Taufek suddenly had a high fever and fainted. After he was sent to the hospital, the doctor confirmed that his kidney failed and could not eliminate toxins, resulting him to suffer from blood infection. The doctor also found a large amount of concentrated fluid in his skull, glabella and nasal cavity, which must be removed through surgery.

After Mohammad Taufek was admitted to the hospital, the doctor started to give him antibiotic treatment. Throughout the period, he was in a critical condition for three times. The doctor had to urgently perform kidney dialysis for him. Since he did not have a stoma in his arm, the doctor could only perform haemodialysis for him from the foot. At the same time, the doctor also removed the concentrated fluid in his skull, glabella and nasal cavity.

His wife Amira Ziana told One Hope Charity volunteers that her husband had already received a date from the hospital for an arm stoma surgery, which would enable him to undergo haemodialysis in the future. Unexpectedly, her husband had already fainted due to high toxins in his body before the surgery date.

As the wife is working as a clinic assistant in the hospital, Mohammad Taufek is still short of RM40,000 in medical expenses after getting a staff discount. His wife cannot afford the fee, hence, she approached One Hope Charity for help.

Mohammad Taufek was a driver, but he is unable to work anymore after the amputation. His wife, Amira Ziana supports the family financially since then. She works as a clinic assistant in a hospital, earning about RM2,500 a month. They have no children.

After reviewing the case, One Hope Charity decided to help Mohammad Taufek in raising the medical expenses. His family agreed to authorise One Hope Charity to take charge of the fundraising and collect donations from the well-wishers on their behalf.

Family agrees to allow ONE HOPE CHARITY to take charge of the fundraising and at the same time, accumulating the donations from the public. For enquiries, please contact our careline at 016-4192192 or 019-2322192.
