Sin Boay Hock, 69 years old, from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, has been diagnosed with a rare Neuroendocrine Rectal Tumor (NET) or carcinoid tumor. In 2020, he sought medical attention due to difficulty in bowel movements and fatigue. After medical examinations, doctors confirmed the presence of a malignant tumor, and approximately 5 centimeters of the tumor has been surgically removed.

Despite his age, Sin Boay Hock actively sought medical treatments, even traveling alone by train to Kuala Lumpur for various therapies. Now, having exhausted his savings and insurance, he is fortunate that the cancer cells are under control. He is seeking assistance of RM45,000 to complete the remaining course of treatment.

【Neuroendocrine rectal tumor is a rare type of cancer that occurs in the rectum, formed by neuroendocrine cells. Neuroendocrine cells typically have the ability to produce and release hormones】

In 2014, Sin Boay Hock sought medical attention due to frequent breathing difficulties, and he was diagnosed with thyroid disease. The treatment costs were covered by insurance.

In 2020, he experienced bowel difficulties and fatigue, leading to the discovery of a rare Rectal Neuroendocrine Tumor (NET) after endoscopic examination. After consultations at multiple hospitals, a treatment plan was established, and he successfully completed the treatment with controlled cancer cells.

In 2022, he faced fatigue and underwent regular check-ups, revealing the spread of cancer cells to the liver and lymph nodes. After completing five treatment sessions, he has depleted his insurance and savings. Seeking assistance, he is requesting RM45,000 for targeted therapy costs.

Targeted therapy releases radioactive particles that can destroy the DNA structure of tumor cells, leading to their death. It specifically targets and affects tumor cells, causing minimal damage to surrounding normal tissues and resulting in fewer side effects for the patient.

Sin Boay Hock, a 69-year-old school bus driver with over 30 years of experience, has continued to work tirelessly in the school bus industry. His eldest son temporarily took over driving duties due to his illness. His wife (68 years old), is a housewife currently undergoing treatment for arthritis. The couple has three children, all working regular jobs, and they struggle to cover their household expenses. Unable to afford the father's medical expenses, they are seeking assistance.

After a home visit and assessment, One Hope Charity & Welfare has decided to assist in raising RM45,000 for his medical expenses.
