“If our daughter could not call Papamama, that is fine. What’s most important is that once she gets her cochlear implant, she would be aware of the dangers around and know how to protect herself from it,”

Chua Shin Yee, a 12-year-old girl from Kedah lost her hearing since young, and even with hearing aid, she was not able to hear anything. After missing out the golden opportunity, but continuing to go through various clinical tests, the doctor has identified a suitable artificial cochlea for her, and had arranged her implant surgery on May 18.

The needed medical fee of RM82,000 has been fully settled all thanks to the fundraiser, hence this fundraising campaign has come to a stop.

Despite Chua’s father’s years of remorse, he promised to do whatever it takes to ensure that his daughter knows how to protect herself from danger, as well as to bring her from Alor Setar to Penang island and back for her for speech therapy.

The father Chua See Han, 40, is deeply grateful for the public’s donation and support, allowing his daughter to successfully have her cochlear implant soon. After missing out on a golden opportunity for treatment, he did not want to make the same mistake again.

Let us hope and pray that Shin Yee will be able to protect herself from danger once she has her artificial cochlear implant.
