Lau Ye Min went to neighboring country to work after her secondary school, hoping to give his parents a better life. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with Leukemia and her family’s bone marrow is not suitable to be transplanted. In June 2019, she felt nausea and her period lasted for 10 days, hence, she went for blood test.
Her blood test report shows that her white blood cell level is abnormal and doctor suggested her to go for further check-up. Due to high medical expenses, she decided to quit her job and return to Melaka for check-up. She was then diagnosed with Leukemia and requires bone marrow transplant. She underwent 4 session of chemotherapy since July till November.
Fortunately, she found a 100% matching bone marrow sample but she is lacking of RM150,000 for transplant surgery. She hopes that the generous society can give her a second chance in life to recover.
On the search of bone marrow
Doctors has widen the search of suitable bone marrow after her parents’ bone marrow is not suitable. In December last year, they found a 100% matching bone marrow in Taiwan and she estimates to undergo surgery in Ampang Hospital on February.
Her father, Lau Voon Pyng, 62, is a hawker who draws a monthly salary of RM2,500. Her mother, Lim Eng Neo, 53 is a housewife. The couple has 5 children who are 29 years old, 26 years old, 25 years old daughters and 23 years old, 20 years old son.
