100%

Welcoming a new-born baby is supposed to be a happy event but unfortunately, for a young couple who is from Penang, their new-born baby was born prematurely (7 months) and when he is 9 days old, he suffers from gastrointestinal perforation. He required immediate surgery to save his life.

When the baby was 1 month old, doctors realize that he has respiratory murmur. After a series of checkups, doctors diagnosed that he suffers from Tetralogy of Fallout (TOF) and Progressive Cyanosis. These diseases are considered as a serious congenital heart disease. His parents were depressed once again due to their baby’s life-threatening condition.

The couple is from Bayan Lepas, Penang. Muhammad Syawal is the first born of Mohd Azani Azuan Bin Abdul Halim (28) and Siti Badariah Binti Bistamam (26). Her pregnancy checkups show that her baby was all normal but when she was 7 months pregnant, her water broke and was sent to Penang’s General hospital. Doctors performed a C-section on her and Muhammad Syawal was born, weighing 1.5kg.

As Muhammad Syawal is a premature baby, he was kept under monitor in NICU. When he was 9 days old, doctors realized that he suffers from gastrointestinal perforation. His life was rescued by doctors who performed urgent surgery to treat his condition.

After surgery, he was kept in NICU for monitor. His parents felt relieve seeing their baby growing up day by day. Just when his parents felt relieve, doctors realize that the baby boy has respiratory murmur.

After a series of checkups, doctor diagnosed that he suffers from one of the most serious congenital heart diseases – Tetralogy of Fallout (TOF) and Progressive Cyanosis. He is required to go for surgery when he is 9 months old or his life will be endangered.

Baby boy was kept under monitoring for 2 months. After that, he was allowed to discharged but he has to go for constant checkup to ensure that his heart functions well.

Muhammad Syawal is currently 9 months old and weighing 7.7kg. The latest checkup found out that his heart condition has deteriorated. The baby boy’s lips and limbs tend to turn purplish and facing breathing difficulties when he moves too much.

The baby boy’s condition is worsening and as a result, doctors advised his parents to send him for surgery. He needs to undergo cardiac corrective surgery which includes repairing his Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) problem, Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) and also Right Ventricle Outflow Tract Tachycardia (RVOT). The total medical fee required is RM80,000.00.

The baby boy’s father, Mohd Azani Azuan is a contract-based assembler who draws a monthly salary of RM1300 and his mother, Siti Badariah is a housewife. The family of 3 with their mother’s siblings stays with their grandmother.

As his family is unable to bear the surgery expenses, they came forward to seek help from One Hope Charity. We hope that the generous public can lend a helping hand and provide a second chance for the baby to recover.
