Urgent Fundraising – Nur Delisha Maisarah (Heart Disease)



She suffered from shortness of breath when she was born, and she was later diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) – a combination of four congenital heart defects. However, she was too young to receive a surgery at that time. And now, the baby girl is almost one year old, and the doctor confirmed that she can undergo the surgery at any time. The surgery needs to be done as soon as possible to avoid heart failure.

10-month-old baby girl Nur Delisha Maisarah Binti Mohd Shaharudin from Penaga in Penang, appears to be healthy, but her heart is like a time bomb as it may fail at any time, which will threaten her life.

Under the careful care of her parents, the baby girl has grown up safety in the past 10 months, but she will occasionally develops slight cyanosis, and the doctor also reminded the parents to send her to the hospital immediately if the child has cyanosis. The parents are living in fear as they are worried that their daughter’s life may in danger at any time.

During a follow-up visit recently, the doctor informed that it is the suitable time for the baby girl to undergo the surgery. However, the parents are worried as they are unable to afford the surgical fee of RM75,000, hence they approached One Hope Charity for help, hoping that the public can join hands to save the child.

Baby girl Nur Delisha Maisarah was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) at birth. The four heart defects she suffered namely the ventricular septal defect (VSD), overriding of the ascending aorta, right ventricular outflow tract obstruction and right ventricular hypertrophy.

After being transferred to the intensive care unit for eight days, the baby was allowed to be discharged. However, she needs to attend monthly follow-up visits, and the baby needs to undergo a heart repair surgery when her body weight achieves 10kg. The doctor reminded the parents to pay extra attention to the child’s condition at all times. If the baby cries and become cyanotic, the parents have to admit the baby to the hospital, so the parents have been very cautious and careful in taking care of their child.

Although the child did not suffer from other health issues, but she has been suffering from long-term hypoxia. Fortunately, the baby girl has spent her first 10 months safely without experiencing any symptoms. In a regular follow-up visit recently, the doctor informed that it is the suitable time for the baby girl to undergo the surgery, otherwise, her life may be in danger.

Her 36-year-old father Mohd Shaharudin Bin Md Rodzey used to work as a technician in a factory. As he often carried heavy objects, he needed and underwent a hernia surgery, and the doctor also given a written warning to inform him not to carry heavy objects anymore. As a result, he quit his job and became a fisherman, and he followed a boat owner to go fishing, earning about RM1,200 a month.

Her 35-year-old mother Siti Salmiah Bt Abu Bakar is a housewife. The couple have two other children aged seven and four. The couple have no problem in providing daily meals for their children, but their living expenses are stretched. They are unable to afford the huge medical expenses, hence they turned to One Hope Charity for help.

After reviewing the case following a home visit, One Hope Charity decided to assist in raising the RM75,000 in medical expenses. The family agreed to fully authorise One Hope Charity to take charge of the fundraising and collect the donations from the well-wishers on their behalf.
